About Us
Our goal is to preserve Koryu Karate and its cultural aspects
of Okinawa by training in the old and traditional ways but
also with an open mind for developing and improve in new
techniques.
Styles
The styles teach within the organization for those that want to learn them are: Okinawa Shorin Ryu in the style named Ryukyu Koshiki Karatejutsu Kobudo which is a blend of 3 main Okinawan Shorin Ryu lineages. Our Kobudo is a blend of Matsumura derivated styles, some Matayoshi katas & a little of Yamani Ryu.

At the OBHK we also have a Iaido/Kenjustu Ryuha called Hakuhi Ryu which specializes in real combat-oriented techniques against empty hands, and different types of weapons but preserving the old ways and katas.
We believe that integrity, honesty, study, hard work and character should be openly and freely rewarded and not done so for reasons of vanity or monetary gain. For the OBHK membership, we charge a small amount of ($30.00) annually to buy the materials for certificates and make association patches & other organizational items.
